American Legion, Chatham Post #36, 1917-1929.

This collection consists of eleven volumes which chronicle Chatham County's participation in World War I. The bulk of this material was compiled by Post historian Augusta Wood DuBose (1883-1962). In addition to containing rosters of white and black troops, these volumes contain transcriptions of soldier's letters home as well as accounts of local women's involvement in war relief work.
